Royal Grottos
An complete and interactive grotto installation to enhance customer engagement in retail environments.
For the festive season, we hosted our own grotto installation concept, with full build and management in partnership with Tunbridge Wells Council. Our goal was to create an immersive and magical Grotto experience that enhanced the festive atmosphere at Calverley Grounds which was already boasting an impressive Ice Skating Rink by the Council, and provided an engaging adventure for visitors of all ages.
Key CEP contributions included:
Designing and Building Temporary Structures: We designed and constructed temporary outdoor structures for the grotto, creating an immersive festive environment.
Liaising with Suppliers and Council: We coordinated with multiple suppliers and Tunbridge Wells Council to ensure compliance with all health and safety regulations during the installation.
Creation and Management of Ticket System: We developed and managed an efficient ticketing system that streamlined visitor access and enhanced the overall experience.
Purchasing and Managing Stock: Our team handled the purchasing, management, and sale of merchandise to ensure a well-stocked gift shop and engaging workshops.
Coordinating Actors: All actors, including Santa and his elves, were integrated throughout the event, providing interactive experiences with well-designed costumes.
Gingerbread Decorating Workshop: We hosted a gingerbread decorating workshop, allowing children to engage in festive crafting and creativity.
Candy Cane Lane Design and Build: Visitors walked through Candy Cane Lane, featuring a snow machine, candy cane-covered Christmas trees, and an illuminated trail that enhanced the holiday atmosphere.

Visitors arrive at the gates welcomed by a charming Nutcracker prop. As they enter, they are treated to a lively song and dance performance by three festive elves, setting the joyful tone for the adventure ahead.
Families are then guided to Mrs. Santa’s Gingerbread Kitchen, where they gather for a delightful storytelling session. Following the story, children engage in a hands-on gingerbread decorating activity and create reindeer food, adding a touch of festive creativity.
Once the activities are complete, families are taken one by one to meet Father Christmas. Each child receives a special gift, and there’s a photo opportunity to capture the magical moment.
After visiting Father Christmas, guests stroll down Candy Cane Lane, an enchanting pathway adorned with a snow machine, creating a winter wonderland atmosphere. The walkway features candy cane-covered Christmas trees and dazzling lights.
The journey concludes at the Grotto Gift Shop, where families can purchase professional photos displayed in festive baubles and snow globes, creating lasting memories from their 30-minute experience in this magical holiday setting.
